A little background about us.

BW Automotive Group (BAG) is a 100% locally owned Company dealing with the retail and wholesale of new and used cars, import/export of new and used vehicles, car rental, leasing, fleet management, after sales services, auto financing and car insurance.

The Company currently employs more than 80 workers and operates in 2 locations with an average sales turnover of S$90 million for the past 2 years.The Company is one of the leading dealerships in the luxury car sector and also one of the biggest limousine service providers with an average 8000 trips per month for the past 3 years.

The Company, formerly known as Benzworld, started in 2001 as the first used car dealership in Singapore dealing with used Mercedes Benz only. It was a very small 2 man operation with a small inventory of handpicked used Mercedes Benz. A summary of the Company history is further illustrated below.

2001

Derek started BW (Formerly known as Benzworld) with 1 employee, a small inventory of pre-owned Mercedes Benz were purchased and retailed in his showroom back in Tai Keng Gardens. From the beginning, his goal was to become one of the market leaders in the Automobile Industry dealing with pre-owned vehicles. He wanted to operate his business in 2 different arms, Retail and Export.

2003

BW’s Export Division was set up for the export of used vehicles internationally, the markets we cater to consists of Cyprus, Russia, New Zealand, Africa, Caribbean, Mauritius, Indonesia, Malaysia, Fiji and many more. Instead of just providing large quantity of cars to our customers internationally, the company’s focus was on the quality and because of that we have managed to build a good and trustworthy reputation for ourselves in those countries respectively.

2005

The company’s business expanded and we shifted from Tai Keng Gardens to VICOM INSPECTION BLDG in Kaki Bukit, we now operate in a much bigger premises that has the capacity to host a larger variety of cars. Mercedes Benz leading the way and other makes like Lexus, BMW, Jaguar, Range Rover and even Chrysler progressively making their way into our showroom.

2006

Set up Singapore Auction Services Pte Ltd (nka Venture Credit Pte Ltd), the first online car auction in Singapore. The response from overseas was very good but unfortunately we do not have enough cars to sustain the buying interest and the cost of running the auction. Nevertheless it was a good experience and it paved the way for our future development into digitalisation.

2007

BW Sin Ming Branch was officially opened and obtained ISO 9001:2001 for the Sales of Premium Pre-owned Vehicles.

2009

Acquired Singapore Mobility Corporation, operating as Sixt Singapore which is the exclusive operator for Sixt Rent A Car, Sixt Leasing and Sixt Limousine in Singapore. Sixt, founded in 1912 in Munich Germany is a global player supplying high-quality mobility solutions. Sixt has over 3,500 stations in around 85 countries globally.

Set up Venture Cars to venture into the mass market sector of the Japanese and Korean marques. Instead of wholesaling our trade-ins to fellow car dealers, a retail arm is set up to increase revenue and to offer more attractive trade in package to our clients.

2010

Our first property investment in the prime district area of East Coast. Company purchased and operated business in a 4,800 sq ft showroom along East Coast Road. Also our first foray into Supercars like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin.

2012

Moved to our current location at 30 Ubi Road 4 due to rapid expansion. 8,000sq ft of space was needed to cater to our growing inventory and increase in headcount.

2014

Set Up Sixt China to operate as a GSA (General Sales Agent) in Shantou, China. Our first overseas venture and it was an eye opener and great experience for those involved. Continual staff attachment programme to both sides meant valuable experience for our employees to explore the different business environment and culture of both countries.

2015

Revamped Venture Cars to take on the import of JDM (Japan Domestic Model) cars from Japan as interest in Parallel Imported cars increase from a mere 5% in the mid 90s to more than 20% in 2015.

 

Set up BW Workshop to provide one stop after sales service to our clients and to provide inhouse warranty.

2016

Revamped Venture Credit Pte Ltd to provide Motor Insurance and Financing services for our clients. Improve our customer retention rate and better customer experience through a one stop automotive solution.

2017

Had one of our best years with the sale of more than 800 vehicles, close to 100,000 limousine transfers and generated a revenue of more than S$100 million.

Now

The Company will continue to grow it’s existing businesses and will also be on the lookout for new automotive related businesses. To meet the challenges of an increasing customer base and profile as well as the ever changing requirements of our existing and new clients, the Company is looking to digitalisation and moving to a bigger premises to cater to the challenges of the next 10-15 years.
